It is certainly an excellent wine, intense ruby red in colour, with violet reflections when young, tending towards garnet with ageing. Obtained in purity after a long fermentation, it gives enveloping aromas of raspberry and sour cherry. On the nose it is alluring, vinous and slightly herbaceous. As it matures it takes on finesse, delicacy and harmony, and acquires subtle notes of violet.

Grape variety
A grape variety from the Bordeaux region that has spread to different parts of the world. Its appearance in Italy is almost contemporaneous with that of Cabernet Franc.

Soil
Clayey, silty and slightly alkaline.

Winemaking
Maceration for 25-30 days at a controlled temperature of 24°/28°. Pumping over with oxygen injection and soft pressing. Since these are tannic, full-bodied wines, ageing is carried out with a micro-oxygenator to make the wine softer and more elegant.
